In the corner of Turtle Bower's wooden balcony: two wooden containers overflow with pansies in red, white and violet. Standing guard over them is a large, whimsical bird sculpture made of metal.

Turtle Bower will be a peaceful place of cooperative, easeful living at its heart. Though we’re ideal for spoonie folks living with chronic illness, disabilities, and/or burnout seeking a healthy place to recover and build a meaningful life, a vibrant community needs a mixture of elements to be resilient. We all benefit from a multitude of perspectives, our doors are open for souls of all sorts.

You might be a good fit here if you are:

  • A creative who works from home and needs a quiet environment such as writers, programmers, digital artists
  • Doing shift work and value quiet in the bedroom wing during the day
  • In a stressful job, EMT, Social Worker, etc.. and in need of a chill place to unwind and recharge
  • Someone with a substantial contemplative practice who would benefit from a peaceful place to “be”
  • Interested in developing communal living skills and supporting a social experiment
The sun lights up a cozy, white sitting room, where we see a low modern armchair and footstool. We see textured cushions and a wooden chest of drawers. By the window, small green plants enjoy the sunshine.

Essentially, if you’re at all intrigued by a blend of independent and collaborative living, the potential of a large community kitchen, a quiet environment, gentle relaxed socializing and a culture that can adapt and accommodate special needs, we’d love to have you! At Turtle Bower we take care of each other, layering a diversity of needs and abilities, matching up what’s easy for some and a struggle for others, outsourcing anything else we need so that everyone has support. That can’t happen without good people bringing together a variety of capabilities.

Turtle Bower is currently conceptual so unfortunately no availability at this time. We’ll update this page with more details if/when we do succeed. If you’d like to be on a contact for updates list in the meantime, let us know.
